I Hath Defeated My Whale
Last night, luck finally landed in my lap.
I happened to log in at the right time to find that a small corp fleet was forming, and ready to undock from our station in D-G. I saddled-up in my Thorax and set out to the T-RPFU gate rendezvous to meet with a few other pilots.
While in mid-warp, we got intel that a small Ushra’Khan cruiser was inbound at the other side of the gate, preparing to jump through. Imagine my surprise when I see the name of my enemy linked up in fleet chat as none other than famed blogger and HTFU-enthusiast Alexia Morgan.
It was strange, really. A wash of relief came over me with the realization that I actually knew the pilot. Suddenly, the whale was no longer some nameless beast, but a person of flesh and blood. I’d be lying if I said didn’t feel a tinge of betrayal as the bubble went up and the target appeared in my overview. After all, I’ve had plenty of conversations with this person, who I consider a rightful ally in the blogging community. But, then again, we all know all cordiality goes the way of oxygen in space—right out the air lock.
As luck would be on my side, for once, it seems it had all but abandoned Alexia. She uncloaked. We approached. We pointed, we aimed, we shot. She blew up.
My whale is defeated, and I hope Alexia feels a slight bit of pride in being my first.
She had only a few words in eve-bloggers channel. “Et tu, Rettic?”
Et I, indeed.
